Geocaching

We did two geocaches shortly before we left for Christmas along this ridgeline above Lanikai, the views were absolutely gorgeous even though the hike really kicked my butt.  (All those breaks I had to take gave me the time to really enjoy the sights, I guess.)  All four of us got to the first geocache and then Wil literally ran along the ridgeline to get the second one by himself (that way we wouldn't have to do the hike again just to get the cachce that was farther up the trail).  The hike up to the pillboxes was the hardest part.  It was relatively steep but also the terrain was very rocky.  After the pillboxes it became more of a dirt trail which was a lot easier, even though it was still pretty steep at some points.

The ridgeline we climbed, Lankai to the right, Kailua to the left, and the Marine Corps base stretching across the back of the photo

Abigail did a lot of the hike herself and she was a champ

Can you spot the baby in this photo?
Ethan also did great and slept for most of the hike.

The geocache offered not only "treasure" but a great view

Finally

The kiddos now seem to be adjusted back to Hawaii time, Ethan slept for 9 hours straight last night and Abigail slept until 6.  I can deal with teething, opinionated toddlers and ghost ants much better after having gotten a good night's sleep.
