Budding photographer

Abigail has started to really understand that her FisherPrice kiddie camera is actually a camera. She used to just take pictures and then immediately delete them because the toy makes a noise when you delete the photos. Lately she's been walking around with the camera and telling me, the computer, and her pacifiers to say cheese.

"Say cheese pi-erss (pacifier)" and once she's taken the picture, "it's so cute."

A new one tonight: "Say cheese hot dog."

Phone Call from Wil

Wil was able to call last night for the first time since getting to Afghanistan. With the time difference being 14 1/2 hours it gives him a pretty small window in which to call each day. He's doing well and sounds like they're getting back into the swing of things although he hasn't flown yet. He's now sleeping on a cot in a big tent that's been divided into two sections with about ten guys on each side. A big step down from the "cans." There are lots of rumors about when they'll be going to their next location but nothing concrete. He has heard that at the next location it takes two months for packages to get there so if you're planning on sending him something you should do it soon.

We've got three months down so we're almost halfway done!

No longer waiting on "the word"

Wil has arrived safely in Afghanistan, his mailing address has not changed, we weren't sure at first if it would or not. We are not sure how much access to the internet he's going to have or how reliable it will be. Hopefully we'll know more details soon including if this move will push back their return date.

In other news the weather has been beautiful here but very hot for two people coming back from Michigan. We went to the base pool the last two days and Abigail had so much fun in the kiddie pool there. They have a bunch of kid's life jackets that we used to go in the big pool but she wasn't as crazy about that. Probably because the water seems to be colder (a lot harder for the sun to heat up an olympic sized swimming pool as opposed to a ten foot kiddie pool) and she can't run around with the other kids there - she mostly clings tightly to my neck. I also got her signed up for her very first swimming lessons. It's a water babies class which will be mommy and me. She's up near the top age limit for the class but we've got a whole summer and if she does well in this class she can just take the level one class (which isn't mommy and me) later on.

For those of you who don't know that title is a joke the Alpha Co. wives had during TBS when our guys would be sitting around doing nothing at base waiting for "the word" that they were done for the day and could come home. It became a buzzword for our group.
