I hope it's true . . .

. . . that it's better late than never because I have finally finished my thank-you notes from when Ethan was born.  Barring any being returned due to wrong addresses of course, which is always a possibility in the military community.

New Trick

Ethan rolled from his stomache to his back for the first time a couple of days ago.  He hasn't repeated rolling from back to front like he did when he was two days old but that should be happening soon.  He did it with such ease and was able to do it so many times that day that it was like he was saying, "I've been ready to do this for awhile now if you guys would have just given me some more tummy time it would have happened sooner."  He also has started to scoot any time we put him on his stomache.  He puts his face on the floor and pushes forward with his legs and manages to move himself several inches.  Right now he doesn't know what to do with his arms though so they end up stuck underneath his body.

In addition I weighed him on our scale the other day and he's up to around 13 1/2 pounds.

She's too smart for my own good

I snuck a handful of M&M's this afternoon and a few minutes later Abigail comes up to me.  "Look at your mouth," she says and I quickly open and shut it trying to humor her.  She persists, "Open your mouth."  So I grudgingly let her look in my mouth.  She then exclaims, "It's all yucky."  She pauses for a second, contemplating what this means.  "Oh!  M&M's!"

Ethan's 2 month appointment

Ethan had his two month appointment last week and he was 12 pounds 12 oz and 23 inches. So even though he seems to be spitting up copious amounts of milk he's still growing well. From what I understand, as long as he's growing and a happy baby we don't have to worry about the spit up being anything more serious like reflux.

Also Ethan has slept through the night two out of the last three nights. He seems intent on beating every one of Abigail's milestones so hopefully in the next couple of weeks he'll be consistently sleeping through the night.

Toddlers are funny

I was giving Abigail a bath last night; when she was done playing she pulled the drain plug to let the water out of the tub. She then proceeded to tell me, "Water's sad. Water has to go home. He misses his mom and dad."

Following our church's harvest party (pictures from that coming soon) Abigail started getting fussy when we told her we were going home. To try to divert her attention Wil asked her where she wanted to go. Her reply, "The moon!"

Catching Up

The last few weeks have been so busy for us, we've taken lots of pictures but actually finding the time to download them and then get them onto the blog has proved difficult. Wil passed his HAC check last week and between all the flights required for that and the other duties he's had now that he's the officer in charge of flight line we only managed to have dinner together once during the week. And that was when we went in to the duty office while he was working and ordered pizza.

Ethan continues to grow well and he is such a happy baby. He still needs to eat once in the middle of the night but that is gradually getting later. Now he wakes up between 4 and 5 am. We've moved him into his own room which means all of us are sleeping better. Abigail has recently developed a dislike of the dark (fear seemed too strong a word to use) and now requires a night light. Somtimes at night she also turns on the hallway light, leaves her bedroom door open and then goes back to sleep. The good news is that she's coming into our bed less which means a better night's sleep for Wil. (She always goes to his side of the bed now, I would often wake up to feed Ethan and discover that she was there.)
